The Maple Syrup Diet

If you are feeling sluggish and bloated after all of the heavy eating at the holidays, then you might want to take a look to the maple syrup diet for a bit of relief. This is a simple detoxification plan that has been popular for over 40 years. According to some fans, it’s a great way to maintain colon health or just improve your energy levels.

The Maple Syrup diet goes by a few different names, all of which are based on the various ingredients in the special drink that you make for it. These ingredients are cayenne pepper, maple syrup, fresh lemon juice and water. So you get some folks who refer to the diet as the cayanne pepper cleanse or the lemonade diet. But officially, the real name is actually the Master Cleanser. That’s the name of the book the diet comes from, written by alternative medicine advocate Stan Burroughs. It has always been a popular fasting program, but it has seen a big resurgence lately.

To follow the diet, you need to set aside a week to 10 days to do it properly, but some people think it is fine to just do it for a few days. It really is up to you and how you are feeling while you do the pepper cleanse. If you feel like it has done what you want it to do in the first few days, there’s no need to keep up with it.

On the other hand, most people think that following it for the full 10 days is a good idea and you will even get some proponents who think you should do it for a month! Personally, I think that is far too long a time to be fasting without medical supervision, so I would stick to a shorter period of time unless you want to talk to your doctor about it.
