In today’s generation, height means everything. It denotes power, position, and beauty. If you are tall, you will be seen as someone who is powerful, respectable and at the same time beautiful. These three adjectives are thought to automatically follow the word “height” because of the attention that tall people get from the public nowadays (take for example, those tall supermodels that everyone seems to admire). With this, a lot of people want to get taller. But how? Here are some tips on how to increase height.
Height of a person is actually determined by how much growth hormone is released by the anterior pituitary gland. During puberty, the release of growth hormone is at its peak and as one increase in age, the release of growth hormone decreases. This is the reason why people who are at their puberty age tend to grow tall so fast.
The growth hormone affects the cartilages, bone, and cells in the body. It increases their size thus contributing to the height of a person. As one increase in age, some of the bones in the lower extremities ossify thus slowing down the effect of the growth hormone. When that time comes, the spine should be in focus since the spine contributes 35% in the total height of a person.
The spine is made up of 33 bones which are separated by cartilage pads called disks. The last 9 bones are fused into two immovable bones namely the sacrum and the coccyx to form the posterior part of the pelvis. The remaining 24 bones are movable and will never be fused. The disks of the remaining 24 bones can be stimulated to increase in size which has a direct affectation to the height. Given that fact, men and women alike can still grow tall even if their bone plate in the lower extremities have been fused. The key here is stimulation. So how can we stimulate the disks in the spinal column?
There are two techniques that can be used to stimulate the disks in the spinal column. First is to do regular stretching and the second is by using a product called YOKO.
Stretching is the most economic, convenient, healthy, natural, and safest way to increase one’s height. There is no need to take in medications which can have a negative effect on the body. Also, buying medicines which promises increase in height can be very expensive. With stretching, there is no need to introduce any chemicals in the body. Not just that. Stretching is also very good for the health as it helps burn down calories (in small amount as to compare with exercise) and also helps promote good blood circulation.
When stretching, the muscles enveloping the body are stimulated and in due time will expand. This expansion can add up to the existing height of the person. Also, the cartilages in your body (especially in the spine) will be compressed and decompressed by the repetitive movements done in stretching. This allows the absorption of nutrients which in time will contribute to the increase in size of the cartilage. The increase in size of the cartilages will have a direct influence on the height of the person.
Below are some of the stretching exercises which you can engage everyday so to achieve your desired height. Be sure to execute the following stretches accurately to prevent injury and for you to get the most out of it.
1. Standing forward bend. This is very easy to do. First, stand straight (your feet should be 18 inches apart) and then simply bend forward. Lock your arms on your lower extremities specifically on your calves by simply placing your arms on your calves. This is a great way to decompress and relax your spine. This also stretches your calves, hamstrings, hip, back and neck. Be reminded not to bend your knees.
2. Downward facing. This type of stretching is actually based from a yoga maneuver. Start by getting down on your hands and knees. Make sure that the legs are at the same line with your shoulders. Your finger should face forward. Try to push yourself up starting from that position. Be reminded that your legs should be in straight line. Your position should be that of a triangle wherein the floor is the base of the triangle.
3. Head to knee. This is a common stretching exercise. Sit on the floor and simply reach your knee. Be sure that your back is stretched and not curved.
You can do the above stretching exercises before starting your day. You can do it in 18 counts one to two cycles each. Regulate your breathing as you stretch your muscles. Do not hold your breathing so to prevent the accumulation of lactic acid in your muscles (which are very painful).
Another way to stimulate the cartilages in the spine to promote increase in height is to use a device called YOKO. This is a safe device which can be used easily. This product is very popular in Japan. This device is like a sole pad which has micro stimulators attach on it. These stimulators indirectly affect the pituitary gland to produce growth hormone. Aside from its capability to increase the height, it also can improve circulation, digestion, metabolism, and promote good breathing.
To use the YOKO, simply place it inside the shoes, sandals or slippers and step on it. The inventors of this product believe that there are pressure points on the sole of the feet which affects different parts of the body and when they are stimulated well could bring harmony in the body.
