Hair Replacement Cost Factors

Are you tired of looking 10 to 15 years older than your real age?  That is how much older men with thinning or balding hair are viewed on average.  If you want to look younger one of the most important changes you can make is to start hair growing in those bald spots once again.  If you have areas on your scalp with hair loss then the only real answer is to transplant growing hair follicles into the patches where the natural follicles have stopped producing hair.  Once a follicle goes dormant the chances of revitalizing it are basically zero.

It you are contemplating a hair transplantation procedure then there are a few things you need to know in order to make an informed decision about which type of surgery to have.  There are actually several different types of hair grafts that can be used as transplants.  The grafts chosen have a big influence on the hair replacement cost and how noticeable the grafts are.

  • Strip Graft-this type usually contains about thirty hairs in a row.  The strip is harvested from the donor area and then placed in a slit formed at the balding area.  This method is fairly noticeable because of the way the follicles are in a line.
  • Plug Graft-Just like the name implies, these grafts are in a round shape and usually contain about 10 hair follicle groups.  This method can look like a cheap doll’ s head becau

se the hairs all stick up in the same direction.

  • Mini Graft-usually conatins four to five hair follicles.  These give a result that is not noticeable unless under close inspection.  For the average person this type of graft works fine.
  • Mico Graft-this is the Cadillac of grafts.  One to three natural hair follicle groups are transplanted at a time.  Since this is how hair naturally grows, this method gives a very natural appearance.  For a hair replacement procedure that looks like your original hair these are the grafts to get.

The hair replacement costs, though, increase as you move down the list.  The larger grafts of course are cheaper because there are less required but the results are not as good.  The question really is, do you spend a little money but have “bad hair” or do you spend more money and get results that look great.
