As a co-author at KrillOilPlus.com, a site dedicated to providing information about the benefits of using krill oil. I was asked if eczema was a contagious skin disorder in one of our post titled “Can You Cure Eczema with Krill Oil.” This question really caught me off guard for at the moment I did not know the answer to this question but was my mission to find out the answer.
After researching and reading a few articles on eczema, the short answer to this question is NO but I would like to get into more detail on why this skin disorder isn’t contagious as everyone assume it to be.
Although eczema is a genetic skin disorder, eczema is NOT contagious. For an example, a person who is affect has eczema can not transfer of pass this skin disorder to a person who is not, just by touching that person. Many families who had members that are affected with this skin disorder live together normally and is not affected by it. You have to understand that the cause of eczema is related to the person immune system and how the body reacts to its affect. This skin disease in no way can be transmitted from one person to another. Therefore, shaking hands, talking, or even living with a person suffering from eczema cannot put you on a risk of contacting this skin disease.
You also have to consider that the chances are higher of passing this skin disease to a person direct descendant. Eczema is basically a genetic disorder which only can be passed on genetically. As I mention earlier in the article, eczema is the reaction to a deficiency of the immune system and it shows it on a person skin. Treatment for eczema is not hard to come by and dermatologist has solutions for this skin disorder.
