Breast Reduction complications

Let’s face it, most people don’t feel bad for women with large breasts but what you don’t realize is that if these breasts are too large, they can create an immense amount of pain and discomfort for the woman who happens to own them.  Many women suffer through this problem for their entire lives, while others opt for breast reduction surgery.  Like any procedure there will be a risk of breast reduction complications and you should do your research before you undergo the knife for any procedure.

One of the easiest ways to be satisfied with the outcome of your breast reduction surgery is to research your surgeon and their ability rather than the price of the surgery.  Too many people will bargain shop for surgery and end up going with the surgeon that offers the lowest price as opposed to the best value.  You definitely do not want to undergo surgery from a bargain basement surgeon.  The risk of complications skyrockets depending on the ability of the surgeon.

How do you research different surgeons?  Good question, the easiest way to determine the level of happiness of their patients is to ask for referrals.    Ask your surgeon for referrals as well as any women that you know that have undergone the surgery.  This is by far the best way to find out how satisfied patients were with their doctor, not only with their abilities but their bedside manor, how they talked to you, treated you etc.  These factors may be superficial but they will all contribute to your level of satisfaction with any particular doctor.

As for actual breast reduction surgery complications themselves, you should research the topic in advance of talking to your doctor so that you know what questions and concerns to make sure he covers.  If you go into the appointment blind, you simply won’t know what the doctor covered or didn’t cover and this puts you at a disadvantage.  Research on the web, join forums, read articles, whatever you need to do to make you an educated patient will help you ask the right questions when you are talking to your surgeon.

A little bit of homework up front will contribute mightily to your satisfaction level as a patient down the road.
